Hi everyone,

Found this game through a post on sandboxer.org and am very intrigued by the game. Like most people, I'm looking for a sandbox that doesn't currently exist...I'm currently testing out Darkfall but who knows if that will come of anything. I'm also an old SWG vet that loved its player-based economy.

So, is this truly a sandbox? Does it have a player-based economy? housing? Open world PvP?

If the devs get to make the game that they want to make than it will probably be more like SWG than Darkfall. Player based economy, housing, open world pvp are all features stated to be in the game. It won't be as cutthroat pvp as Darkfall, from what I can tell anyways, but there are some perma-death areas and they have perma-death duels.

Definitely sounds more like Star Wars Galaxies to me by what I've read so far. I am sure there is better information about the housing around, but this article from Massively.com has a description.

And this one about PVP and factions.

I am not that much of a PVP nut, but the housing sounds awesome. Brick by brick building of houses in the open world! Hell yeah, I can't wait. I had a fantastic time in Star Wars Galaxies running a smuggler store with sliced weapons and all kinds of spices all hidden in the back room of a flower shop - ha ha.

A fair warning though: You know, digging in these old interviews can be a lot of fun and they surely contain a lot of information, but we really don't know how much has changed since they revealed the bits. I have seen them state they are undecided about things (i.e. death penalty standards...) and they may very well change their mind on other features as well.

That is a valid point. I refrain now from quoting older DEV interviews when they haven't reiterated the info recently.

I myself am a fan of Darkfall, I played it for a few years. I can tell you that Malu will have parts and pieces of Darkfall.

Darkfall, is all about the PVP. They do have some building based systems. But, I never felt safe while playing. I always turned the music down, and waited for the mounts to start coming to roll us all over.

Malu, will defiantly have a very strong and fun PVP aspect to the game. However, it will also have some quiet safe zones for those who maybe want to turn up the volume and listen to the environment sounds around them as they craft or build their homes.

Awesome!! I love Darkfall too, but its a forced PvP system like GW2. Look forward to a flag up or down zones.

I hope the craft component can be found only in pvp zone.

That is a great idea! Perhaps materials of higher value would be in war zones ;p

meh...you shouldn't force PvP on the community. Maybe PvP components or resource, but anything PvE should be obtained from neutral zones. Just my two cents, but obtaining my resources shouldn't mean I have to participate in PvP to craft PvE materials. I guess I've always been a sucker for neutral mats that allow all of us to participate in every activity. SWG never had a resource that made PvP better then PvE and it worked just fine. I could PvE and PvP in the same gear and it worked just fine.
